Do you love to cook? Are you a food aficionado? Are you constantly on the lookout for great new recipes and fantastic new treats? If you answered yes to any of those questions, then join us as at the library for Cookbook Club. We will meet once a month for three months to try out some great new foods. A different cookbook will be featured each month; all you need to do is pop into the library to look through it and choose a recipe, take it home and make it, and bring your creation to share at the meeting. We’ll swap cooking stories, rate the recipes, and of course, we’ll eat! Registration is required. This month’s program will be held on Tuesday, July 30 at 7:00 PM.

Moon Township Library patrons can now access Gale’s Testing and Education Reference Center (TERC) database! This online resource is used by millions of people looking for help in making decisions about their future. TERC offers many resources for helping you to prepare for official tests from high school through graduate school; from air traffic control to law enforcement to social work and more!

Vacation with the Library

Moon Township Public Library is happy to announce that we will now be offering vacation kits for adults and teens as well as kids. Stop by the Information Desk or Circulation Desk and fill out a form for the “Adult Vacation Kits” or “Teen Beach Bags” anytime from May-August. Each kit comes with 3-4 books as well as music CDs, DVDs, and books on CD (if you choose!).

Please submit all vacation kit requests 3-4 days before your desired pick-up date to allow the librarian maximum time to fill your requests. Let the library help you make the most of your vacation time!

British Invasion: Welcome to the BBC (Informational Literacy)

From the Beatles to the Rolling Stones to One Direction and Downton Abbey, it seems that British pop culture has always had a way of grabbing hold of American imaginations and not letting go! And nothing is more British than the BBC!! Join us as we explore some of the great TV offerings (aside from Downton Abbey!) that this esteemed channel has to offer. Each week for the month of April, we’ll gather to eat some light refreshments and delve into the first episode of a new show. Something Sweet is Happening at the Library

Moon Township Library’s annual All About Chocolate fundraiser is happening on April 26th from 7pm to 9pm. The evening will feature a variety of chocolaste candies, desserts, and snacks along with champagne, coffee, and tea. You must be 21 or older to attend. Sherlock Fans Wanted!

Join us as we discuss the classic Sherlock Holmes story “A Study in Scarlet” and compare it to the BBC Sherlock TV Program ” A Study in Pink.” Can a modern day version of Sherlock Holmes be just as good as the time-honored version. Is Sherlock the same in today’s world of texting, instant messaging and Google? Are the characters of Sherlock and Watson still intriguing and why? These are a just a few of the questions we will tackle in this series of three sessions beginning in March. Please read the story before our meeting and we will watch the TV show and then discuss. Fall in Love with a Book Club

Do you love to read? Looking for others who share your passion for books and want to discuss events, characters, and more with you? Why not fall in love with one of our book clubs? We offer a few different groups that you might enjoy.

PALS Book Club

This group is sponsored by Highmark and the Allegheny County Library Association and is designed for older adults ages 55 and over. PALS meets the third Thursday of every month at 2:00 PM in the Sky Room. The group reads from a variety of authors and across a wide array of genres including nonfiction, mystery, historical fiction, and much more. If you have questions or just want to inquire about future titles, contact librarian Heather Panella for more information.

Sunday Afternoon Book Club

This entertaining group is made up of adults of all ages as well as teens in grades 9-12. The members read both fiction and nonfiction from the Young Adult and Adult divisions of literature. Meetings take place every fourth Sunday of the month at 1:00 in the Sky Room to enjoy discussion and snacks! Teens can earn community service hours for school by attending and great intergenerational relationships are formed, too!! In the past the group has read such titles as The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, When She Woke by Hilary Jordan, and The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. Join us today and discover something new. Fiction Book Club

This book club meets the second Monday of every month at 7:00 in the library’s Sky Room. New and exciting titles from a variety of different genres within fiction, including mystery, romance, and historical. Some upcoming titles are The Language of Flowers and Agent 6.
